Election 2024: Bawumia tours Ahafo Region, Explains why he chose ‘It Is Possible’ as campaign slogan

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that his campaign slogan “It is possible” shows the grace God has bestowed on his life.

At a meeting with the leadership of the clergy in the Ahafo Region at Goaso on Tuesday, May 7, he said, “The trajectory of my life tells me that it is very possible for God to grant His grace and favour to anyone, regardless of where you come from.”

Dr. Bawumia , who was in the Ahafo Region as part of his nationwide campaign tour said, “I chose ‘It is possible’ as my campaign slogan because it reflects the immense grace of God to make things possible.”

Opponents
Dr. Bawumia said prior to his election as flagbearer of the NPP, many had publicly declared that it was never possible for the NPP to elect him as its leader due to his background. “They are now saying it is not possible for me to be elected President. Again, I say, by the grace of God, it is possible.”

Life Journey
Tracing his life story from a humble beginning in the north, labouring in the UK and Canada to educate himself, working at the Bank of Ghana and then becoming Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia said, “When I look back at my life, how I used to work in the farm for extra money as a child in Tamale, how I used to drive taxi in the UK to support my fees, how I used to clean dormitories in Canada for money to take care of myself as a student, and where I am today as Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, surely it is by the grace of God.”

Religious Tolerance
At the meeting, the clergy hailed the NPP flagbearer for constantly promoting religious tolerance and inclusion in the country and urged him not to depart from that path.

Speaking on behalf of the clergy, Bishop of the Methodist Diocese of Goaso, Rt. Rev. Kwesi Jackson, said, “Action speaks louder than words and you have demonstrated your humility and your religious tolerance to bring people together.”

He added: “With the kind of humility you display, I believe that the God, in whom you believe, will continue to give you courage to do that.”
