Daddy Lumba’s family rejects December 13 funeral date

The family of highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba) has dismissed a widely circulated funeral date of December 13, 2025, calling it unauthorised, misleading, and not reflective of any family decision.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 24, some family members including Daddy Lumba’s sister condemned Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu and the dissolved funeral committee for erecting billboards and issuing public notices without approval.

According to the family, the proposed date was never agreed upon and is impracticable due to several outstanding issues, including:

Ongoing autopsy processes and investigations in Ghana and Germany

Children abroad preparing for major examinations

Family members requiring adequate notice to apply for leave

International mourners need time to make travel arrangements

The statement further accuses Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu of illegally withdrawing GHS 200,000 from a CalBank account, despite a court directive barring him from performing financial transactions.

The family also cited breaches of mediation agreements that dissolved the former funeral committee and prohibited unilateral decisions.

Describing the attempt to push through a December burial as “suspicious,” the family insists that no funeral date has been approved.

They are urging the public, traditional leaders, and the media to ignore all unauthorised announcements.

The family reiterated their commitment to ensuring a dignified, well-organised funeral and supporting a transparent investigation into all matters arising.
