Court Orders Funny Face To Be Taken To Psychiatric Hospital For Two Weeks
Comedian Funny Face was arranged before court this morning and court has ordered that he should be taken to a mental health facility for two weeks.
Ofankor circuit court presided over by his Honor Ebenezer Osei Darko has ordered Ghana Police to send Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng popularly known as Funny Face to Accra Psychiatric Hospital for two weeks.
The “Cow and Chicken” actor was in court for ‘unlawful discharge of firearm’. According to a report by Adomfmonline.com, the actor, who revealed his psychiatric record having suffered stage three depression over his twin daughters, is of late fond of making wild statements.
An indication of such is using distasteful words on the Kasoa Police over what in his words was maltreatment during his arrest on February 9. Meanwhile, he pleaded guilty to the charge, but when asked if he was mentally alright, he said the slaps from the police officers affected his sound reasoning.
That notwithstanding, the court has seized the handgun he fired sporadically at a drinking pub where he had a misunderstanding with its owner, leading to his subsequent arrest.
Funny Face was arrested again yesterday Sunday February 14, 2021 and he was kept in police cells till this morning.
The actor, disclosed this in a post on Monday morning February 15, 2021 where he shared a video of his hands handcuffed whilst in a vehicle with a police officer. According to Funny Face, he was being dragged to a circuit court in Ofankor.
“GYE NYAME, jailed again yesterday afternoon … till dis morning … been taking to Ofankor circuit court,” the actor captioned the video and added that ” GOD is in control” whilst informing “funny fans’ to “spread dis video … justice for funny face”.
In the post below, Funny Face did not reveal the reason of what has caused this arrest that warranted a court appearance.
This is the second time the actor has been arrested in the past seven days. Funny Face was picked in the middle of a street in Kasoa on February 8 for causing a disturbance in a bar after he lost a fight.
According to the Ghana Police, Funny Face was granted bail. The Central Regional Police PRO, DSP Irene Serwaa Oppong detailing what caused his first arrest stated on Peace FM’s “Entertainment Review”, that Funny Face had gone to the bar where a misunderstanding ensued between him and the owner.
She said although the two were separated, Funny Face went home and returned with a gun, and fired several warning shots. Funny Face filed a police report against the owner of the drinking pub for assault after sustaining injuries during the fight.
DSP Irene Serwaa Oppong added that the bartender was also arrested for assaulting Funny Face but granted bail whilst police continues investigations into the reports.
