Ato Forson’s Case: Court To Deliver Judgement By July 31
The High Court in Accra trying Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson and two others for willfully causing financial loss of €2.37 million to the state , will deliver judgement before 31 July, 2024.
During proceedings on Tuesday, May 7, the presiding judge, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe said she does not want the case to go beyond July.
Consequently, she asked the parties to cooperate and keep with the time schedules.
Grant of plea
This came after the judge granted defence council Dr. Aziz Basit Bamba’s plea to allow him time to review a witness statement he had just received. The case was adjourned to May 9, 2024.
Background
Ato Forson, Sylvester Anemana, a former chief director at the Ministry of Health, and private businessman Richard Jakpa are standing trial for willfully causing the state a financial loss of €2.37 million through a contract to purchase 200 ambulances for the Ministry of Health.
According to the prosecution, the ambulances are ordinary buses not fit for purpose as they lack the equipment that an ambulance requires. The accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
