German President Hails Asantehene’s Conflict Mediation

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has praised Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his significant role in conflict mediation and his contributions as a peacemaker. Acknowledging the King’s influence and moral authority, Steinmeier stated that Otumfuo serves as a role model for the collaboration between traditional leadership and democratic governance in promoting the common good.
President Steinmeier made these commendations during a courtesy visit to the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, November 4. They engaged in a private meeting after initial greetings that reflected the rich culture of the Asante people.

Mutual respect
According to a social media post from the German Embassy, the meeting was characterized by friendship and mutual respect, rooted in the long-standing ties between Germany and the Asante, as well as the deep personal regard between the President and the King.
Their discussions centered on shared priorities and a mutual commitment to strengthening Ghana-Germany relations. His Majesty presented the German President with a traditional stool adorned with an embossed Asante emblem.
