2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Fit-again Abdul Fatawu Issahaku set for Black Stars return ahead of Chad, Mali games

Fit-again winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is set to return to the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers scheduled next month.

The exciting forward has been out of the senior national team for months after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Fatawu Issahaku picked up the injury against Angola in Luanda and was subsequently ruled out for the game against Niger in Accra.

Following his return to his club, the Foxes confirmed that the former Dreams FC and Steadfast FC forward will miss the rest of the season.

However, after recovering from injury, Fatawu Issahaku joined his teammates at pre-season and has featured in all games for Leicester City in the ongoing Skybet Championship campaign.

With the Black Stars set to regroup next month for the upcoming games against Chad and Mali, the former Sporting CP forward is expected to make a return to the squad.

Fatawu Issahaku grabbed the headlines over the weekend after scoring a stunner in Leicester City’s 1-0 win against Charlton Athletic.

The Black Stars will be hosted at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4 before hosting Mali on September 8 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana, who sit at the top of Group I after six games, will hope to continue their momentum ahead of the games as they aim to secure a fifth World Cup qualification.
