Maxwell Konadu appointed head coach of Black Satellites

Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been named the new head coach of Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites.

Konadu takes over from Desmond Ofei and will be supported by Nations FC deputy coach Johnson Smith and Dreams FC boss Winfred Dormon, while Kelvin Agyemang joins the backroom staff as goalkeepers’ trainer.

The experienced tactician returns to national duty with an impressive résumé, having managed several Ghana Premier League clubs, including Eleven Wonders, Legon Cities, Asante Kotoko, and most recently, Nsoatreman FC.

During his time with Kotoko, he steered the Porcupine Warriors to the league title in 2012 and added the President’s Cup in 2019. On the continental front, he guided the Black Galaxies to WAFU Championship triumphs in 2013 and 2017.

Konadu also etched his name into Nsoatreman’s history books by leading them to their maiden MTN FA Cup success in the 2023/24 season.

At the international level, he previously served under coaches Akwasi Appiah and former Chelsea manager Avram Grant with the Black Stars.

His latest appointment with the Black Satellites represents yet another significant chapter in his enduring contribution to Ghanaian football.
