I want Thomas Partey to stay – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he wants Thomas Partey to stay at the club.

The Ghana international’s contract at the club runs out this summer, having joined the side in 2020 from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal.

Partey has been linked to Barcelona, Juventus and Saudi Pro League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s final game of the season, Arteta said, “In regards to Thomas [Partey], consistency-wise, it’s been his best season.

“I think the way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional, and he’s a really important player for us. Yeah (I want him to stay),” he added.

Partey has played 51 games this campaign, the most games he has played for Arsenal in a season after enduring an injury-riddled time at the London club, scoring four goals to his credit.

The 31-year-old will hope to continue their impressive form when Arsenal travel to play Southampton at the St. Mary’s on Sunday.
