Yaminn allegedly leads NDC thugs to illegally seize gold bars at PMMC Assay Centre

The Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s National Organizer, Joseph Yaminn, of leading some people to illegally seize bullion bars belonging to the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

According to a press statement issued by the PMMC on Wednesday, December 18, the attack by the mob occurred on Tuesday, December 17 at the PMMC National Assay Centre.

The statement said the bullion bars are part of the BoG’s Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP).

Stand-off
The PMMC statement indicated that the ensuing standoff led to the invitation of the Police to restore order.

After several hours, it was agreed that the bullion bars be transferred to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command for safekeeping while efforts were made to resolve the issue.

The PMMC noted that a private exporter, who is duly licenced to carry out gold exports, was also affected by the disruption.
