We’ll resist attempts to rig December polls – John Mahama

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to ensure that the upcoming December elections are peaceful.

In his assurances, the former president said, “If there’s going to be violence, it will not come from us, the NDC.”

In an address at the funeral grounds of the late John Tia Akologo, a former Minister of Information at Duusi in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region, the NDC’s flagbearer urged the clergy not only to preach about peace but also justice, which he said is a precursor to a peaceful electoral process.

“We expect that the elections will be peaceful because we know we’re going to win. If there’s going to be violence, it will not come from us, the NDC.

“But I will crave our Reverend Fathers when you preach about peace, also preach about justice because when there’s no justice, there is no peace.”

He added that the NDC will resist any attempts to rig the elections and will do its best to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.

“We are for peace, but we will resist any attempts to rig this election. I assure Reverend Father that we will play our part to have a free, fair and transparent election. And we believe that God will rescue our country from the crisis we find ourselves in.”
