I’ll give NDC ‘showdown’ in their strongholds if I become NPP flagbearer – Bawumia

The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to give the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a “showdown” in their strongholds in the 2024 general elections.

He said the NDC is aware that he is the man who can tear them apart in their strongholds, particularly the Zongo communities and the Volta Region, that is why they fear to see him emerge as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing party members in the Oti Region, Dr. Bawumia said, “If you listen to Zongo communities and what they are saying, it’s good news for us. People in the Zongo communities say they doubt that the NPP will ever make Dr. Bawumia the flag bearer of the party in the upcoming 2024 general elections. But, they say if they do bring Bawumia, we will vote massively for him. “

The NPP flag bearer aspirant was in the region to sell his vision and get support from delegates who would vote to select a candidate on November 4 to lead the party into the 2024 elections.

Massive loss
The Vice President was optimistic that the NDC will lose massively in their two strongholds of Northern Ghana and the Zongo communities, should he become the NPP flag bearer. “I will also win more votes for the NPP in the Volta Region. Therefore, I will shake all their strongholds. That is why they do not want Dr. Bawumia to emerge as the flagbearer. Because they know that as flagbearer, I will give them a showdown in their strongholds,” he stated.

Enthusiasm
On his arrival in the region, party faithful came out to welcome him. In the Guan constituency where Dr. Bawumia commenced the tour, the Constituency Chairman, Daniel Kudjo Aidoo in the presence of party stakeholders of the constituency, announced their collective decision to support him to lead the NPP to next year’s elections.
“What I’m coming to say here, is not from me, but from all of us,” the Chairman said.

He added: “I have had a meeting with the patrons, the council of elders all the coordinators and executives. What we are saying is that, we have resolved and we are all going to vote for Dr. Bawumia.”

In Buem constituency, the Chairman, Arnold K. Agble, on behalf of the stakeholders, declared their support for Dr. Bawumia. “Dr. Bawumia is a real party man who has dedicated his entire life to public service,” he stated.
