The management and staff of the Energy Ministry, including sector agencies, formally bid farewell to Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Speakers eulogized the former Minister for the exceptional leadership be provided during his tenure .
Dr Opoku Prempeh widely known as Napo, resigned as Minister after he became the presidential running mate of the NPP for the December 7 , 2024 elections.

Citation
A citation presented in his honour by Wilhelmina Asamoah, Chief Director of the Ministry, at a luncheon said, the Ministry witnessed focused leadership during the tenure of Dr Opoku Prempeh.
“You took over the Ministry of Energy in the Republic of Ghana in March 2021, following your nomination by His Excellency the President and approved by Parliament.

“In the course of your tenure as Minister, you have brought a sense of focused leadership to the Ministry in particular and to the energy sector as a whole. In spite of several challenges,
you have been unwavering in your commitment to ensure that the good people of Ghana enjoy reliable power supply, that Ghana increases her share in our petroleum resources, that energy transition remains on the front burner, and that Ghanaian content and Ghanaian participation is deepened in a meaningful way. As you go on to pursue a higher calling in your political career, may the good Lord order your steps in every endeavour and raise His banner of protection over you, “ the citation stated in part.

Proud of achievement
Describing the Ministry as a great family, Dr Opoku Prempeh said he was humbled by the outpouring of love and well wishes from them. He was proud of what they collectively achieved during his tenure.

Furthermore, he was confident that the achievements will form the basis for many more exploits in the quest at keeping the lights on and the nation moving. “I am grateful for the support of the Management and Staff of the Ministry and sector agencies. We will continue to work together for the continued upliftment of our country,” he said.
