World Bank lauds government for decisions on energy sector

The World Bank has commended the government for the decisions being taken to confront challenges in the energy sector.

The Bank further pledged its support to the government to deal with the problems in the sector. These came up when the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia received the World Bank Managing Director of Operations, Anna Bjerde, and the Ghana Country Director, Pierre Laporte, and their team at the Jubilee House on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Ms Bjerde was on a three-day working visit to Ghana to help in the nation’s efforts to recover economically.

Critical energy sector
Dr Bawumia said, the discussions centered on the critical energy sector and its related challenges and how the government is working through its relevant agencies to address some of the challenges with a serious focus on the immediate to long-term strategy.

In attendance
The Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, and the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery participated in the meeting and made valuable contributions.
