Wontumi goes to Antoa Thursday
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi is expected to be at Antoa on Thursday, February 1, 2024 to reverse a curse he invoked on Otumfuo Brempong, Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Dua.
This followed a directive by the Kumasi Traditional Council that he takes immediate steps to follow the requisite procedure to reverse the curse. Invoking curses is banned in Asanteman and anyone who contravenes the order is made to purge himself by performing some rituals.
Appearance
Wontumi, who appeared before the Council on Monday, January 29, 2024, over allegations that he made derogatory remarks against the Asantehene during the NPP parliamentary vetting in Kumasi, was cleared of that allegation after he denied making the statement attributed to him.
However, he admitted to have invoked the Asante river deity, Antoa Nyamaa to curse the Kokosohene who is also a member of the NPP Council of Elders for Manhyia South.
Curse
According to the Kokosohene, there was an altercation between Wontumi and the Manhyia South constituency organiser of the party during the vetting , which led Wontumi to make the derogatory remarks against Otumfuo.
He said after reporting Wontumi’s behaviour to the traditional authorities, the regional NPP chairman invoked curses on him and his descendants.
Explaining why he invoked the curses, Wontumi said it was not intentionally done, but rated , it was to exonerate himself from the allegations made against him by the Kokosohene.
Warning
The Bantamahene, Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia VI, who presided over the meeting warned Wontumi to be wary of his utterances and also check the the way his workers speak about issues. He urged politicians to give traditional authorities the respect they deserve.
