We only paid journalists between GHS 2,000 AND GHS 5000 – Dennis Miracles Aboagye clarifies

The Director of Communication for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has confirmed that journalist who were invited to the Bawumia Host Media Event’ held on last Sunday August 25 were paid GHS 2,000.00 and GHS5,000.00.

Speaking on Fact-Checked Ghana, Miracles Aboagye stated that the money was intended to facilitate and ensure the comfort of journalist invited to the event.
He, therefore, denied claims making headlines in various media platforms that team Bawumia paid between GHS10,000.00 and GHS20,000.00, as been speculated earlier.
“I haven’t given any GHS20,000.00 and GHS10,000 to any media house. The highest amount of money any media person received was GHS2,000.00 and GHS 5,000.00. They are not all the same, some are bloggers,” he stated.

According to him some journalists who came from outside Accra were given money for transports and their accommodation, countering the allegation of bribery.
His comments come on the back of speculation circulating on social media following the NPP flagbearers intention for the media.
