We accept the 8th position on ballot paper, it is significant – Fifi Kwetey
Following a strenuous balloting process on Friday evening, the presidential candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia secured the 1st position on the ballot paper for the December 2024 presidential election while his fiercest opponent, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will sit on the 8th position on the ballot paper.
Speaking to journalists after the process on Friday evening, the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, who did the picking on behalf of the NDC described the number as “significant”.
He indicated that the 8th on the ballot paper was a sign from God that the NDC will rescue Ghana from the NPP after their stay in power for eight years.
“We came here asking for God’s perfect will to be done and we accept the number 8. After eight critical years of decay, the total lack of order, corruption and darkness that has engulfed this country, I think the eight is quite significant to tell the country that this is the moment to stop after the eight years,” he said.
He stressed that even though he was satisfied with the outcome of the process, he accused the NPP’s representative of attempting to disrupt the process by “doing their on thing.”
“I’m satisfied in the respect that the whole country clearly saw that out of the very nine people who were present, one party, the NPP, decided go against the agreement and do their own thing. The country will clearly know those interested in doing what is wrong and those who are interested in doing what is right for the sake of Ghana,” Fifi Kwetey said.
