Vodafone 66th Asantehene Open Golf Championship ends in Kumasi
The Vodafone 66th Asantehene Open Golf Championship ended at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi on Saturday.
The tournament, sponsored by Vodafone Ghana attracted golfers from Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Senegal, Uganda and Zimbabwe were also present.
It was teed off by the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Friday, June 16. At the event were personalities including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ibok-Ete Ibas and Zimbabwean Ambassador to Ghana, Kufa E. Chinoza.
Flag raising
The formal opening was marked by a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a contingent from the Ghana Armed Forces, followed by initial photography sessions with the professional players and sponsors.
Vodafone commitment
The tournament was yet another demonstration of Vodafone Ghana’s commitment to the development of sports, healthy lifestyles, and sustainable development in the Ashanti Region. For seven years running, Vodafone Ghana has taken up sponsorship of the Asantehene Open Golf Tournament.
Ashanti Month
The company has also set aside June as Ashanti Month where a number of activities including the launch of an ICT hub at the Ashanti Regional Library, a collaborative effort with the Ghana Library Authority, will be held .

During a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ahead of the tournament , the CEO of Vodafone Ghana, Patricia Obo-Nai reaffirmed the company’s dedication to the service of Asanteman.
