UHAS Renamed After Late President John Evans Atta Mills

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho has been renamed the Professor John Evans Atta Mills University of Health and Allied Sciences.

The Minister made the announcement during the inauguration of the university’s new Governing Council at the Ministry on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The renaming, according to the ministry, is to honour the memory of the late President Mills for his instrumental role in the establishment of UHAS and his unwavering commitment to health and education in Ghana.

Council Chair, Prof. Kodzo Gavua, welcomed the decision and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence and nation-building.

Prof J.E.A Mills UHAS remains a leading institution dedicated to training skilled health professionals for Ghana and beyond.
