Thousands to attend one week observance of late Theresa Kufuor at Peduase today

The Peduase residence of former President John Agyekum Kufuor will be a sea of black and red today, October 11, 2023 as thousands of mourners join him in marking the traditional one week observance of the passing of his wife, Theresa Kufuor.

Families, friends, and acquaintances as well as high profile personalities will be attending to commemorate the passing of the former First Lady who died at home on October 1, 2023 after a long battle with illness.
Beginning with a mass between 8am and 9am, the activities will then swing into full traditional gear ending at 5pm.

Marriage
The former first couple were recently celebrated by well wishers as they marked 61 of marriage. Throwback photos from their wedding and youthful days were posted on social media as people celebrate them.

Education
Theresa, a sister of late Politician and Economist, J.H. Mensah, was educated at the Catholic Convent, OLA, at Keta in the Volta Region before moving to London, where she became a Registered General Nurse, in the Southern Hospital Group of Nursing, Edinburgh, Scotland.

She continued her ecucation at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford and Paddington General Hospital, London, attaining a State Certified Midwife Certificate in Premature Nursing.

The late Theresa and Mr Kufuor’s marriage was blessed with five children- J. Addo Kufuor, Nana Ama Gyamfi, Saah Kufuor, Agyekum Kufuor and Owusu Afriyie Kufuor.
