Tell Ghana’s story with confidence – President Mahama charges new envoys

President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghana’s newly appointed envoys to project the country’s image with confidence as they take up their diplomatic assignments.

Speaking at the orientation programme for the envoys in Accra on Monday, September 1, 2025, the President reminded them that their role goes beyond traditional diplomacy to actively driving Ghana’s economic and developmental agenda.

“Ambassadorial appointments are no longer reserved for retirees,” President Mahama stated. “They are required to establish bridgeheads in countries of postings to create opportunities for businesses and, at the same time, facilitate the flow of trade and investment into Ghana.”

He described their appointments as both an honour and a solemn duty, stressing the need for envoys to highlight Ghana’s strengths to the international community.

“Tell Ghana’s story with confidence — not as a country confronted with challenges, but as a people defined by resilience and determination,” the President said.

The orientation held under the theme: “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda,” brought together Ghana’s new ambassadors and high commissioners, who are expected to represent the country across key global missions.
