Court to rule on Sedinam Tamakloe’s trial in absentia Feb 24
The Accra High Court adjourned to February 24, to determine whether the former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre MASLOC, Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu, should be tried in absentia or not.
In a previous ruling, the presiding judge Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe declared that the former MASLOC boss has absconded after continuously absenting herself from court to stand trial.
Madam Tamakloe Attionu is on trial with Daniel Axim who is also a former Operations Manager of MASLOC on 78 counts of willfully causing financial loss to the state, stealing, and contravention of the public procurement act, among other charges.
They have both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The former MASLOC boss was admitted to bail in the sum of five million cedis but has since October 2021 failed to appear in court for the trial to progress following approval by the court to travel out of the country for a medical check-up.
The court has already forfeited her bail bond to the state and ordered her two sureties, a former CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Alex Mould, and an actor, Gavivina Tamakloe, to pay the five million cedis.
A medical report submitted by counsel for Madam Tamakloe Attionu indicates that she will require about six to nine months more for her medical treatment.
According to the medical report, she has been diagnosed with an eye problem and requires treatment.
