A distinguished and outstanding African King; Otumfuo eulogised in new Legal Education Book

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has been presented with a special edition of a new legal education book.
Specifically produced for the Asantehene, the special edition is in recognition of the King’s outstanding role in peaceful dispute resolution.

A retired Chief Justice , Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah , accompanied by the President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Yaw Acheampong Boafo and other lawyers were at the Manhyia Palace to present the special edition to Otumfuo.

The book
Titled, “The Law, Practice and Procedure in the Superior Courts and Appellate Tribunals in Ghana”, the book is co-authored by a retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Lawrence L. Mensah; the lead counsel for the Asantehene, Mujeeb R. Ahmed, and legal practitioner, Kwamina Mensah.

The book seeks to equip lawyers, practitioners, and students alike with the appropriate tools to succeed in their endeavors at the courts.

Additionally, the authors, drawing from their vast experiences, throw more light on the above fundamental principle governing the Superior Courts as coming about as a result of the presumption of jurisdiction.
Alternatively, the book touches on the concept of presumption of want of jurisdiction of the lower courts, which exist, except where the same has been conferred by a statute.

Moreover, more light has been thrown on the appellate jurisdiction of the superior courts and the Houses of Chiefs which also exercise some level of appellate jurisdiction as created by the Constitution, the Courts Act as amended, and other statutes.

Dedication
A dedication captured in the book says, “To His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, a generational King, a distinguished and outstanding African King , a pillar of hope, peace and development in Africa.”

Head of peace
Describing Otumfuo as a symbol of peace in Ghana and Africa, Mr Boafo said, “you cannot talk bout peace without mentioning the Asantehene. Otumfuo is the head of peace.“ “In the past we know of the Dagbon crisis. It was His Majesty who led the process using tradition, culture, tact and diplomacy to bring peace to Dagbon and Ghana.”

The GBA president indicated that since he ascended the Golden Stool, Otumfuo had applied extraordinarily traditional and cultural finesse to settle disputes that have brought peace to Asanteman and Ghana.
“The way he had applied tradition and custom to settle disputes in Asanteman and Ghana, some of them, very difficult, was exemplary. “So when through Otumfuo’s blessings , Justice Anin Yeboah became Chief Justice , he commissioned his people to ensure that during his tenure, legal education was strengthened for which reason a book should be written. “This is a special copy, the only special edition reserved only for Otumfuo. The rest will be sold to the public,” Mr Boafo said.

Support
Justice Anin Yeboah thanked Otumfuo for his prayers and support that brought him that far.
