Stop your lies, NPP not working to Rig Ejisu By-Election – President Akufo-Addo debunks independent candidate, Aduomi’s assertion

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has fired some verbal salvos at the independent candidate in the Ejisu by-election, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi.

The former NPP MP for Ejisu is alleged to have stated that the NPP is planning to rig the by-election.
But, in a fierce reaction, President Akufo-Addo , said the independent candidate is only bent on using lies to prosecute his campaign.

Final rally
Speaking at the final rally of the NPP ahead of the by-election on Tuesday, April 30, the President said he is disappointed in the former MP’s decision to cut ties with the party.

He asked: “When in 2008, he defeated the incumbent MP, who was even a Cabinet Minister, did the NPP rig the elections for him? “

He continued, “So why is he now alleging that we will rig the elections just because he has been defeated by someone else. This is not fair.”

Misguide
President Akufo-Addo-Addo who urged the electorate to vote massively for the NPP candidate, Kwabena Boateng, also condemned individuals and groups who are urging on Mr Owusu Aduomi. He stated that those individuals and groups would fail in their moves to snatch the seat from the NPP.

Opposition
President Akufo-Addo said, “ We oppose any independent candidate whose background is unknown to us. We’re uncertain if influential figures are influencing their decisions. We refuse to accept this. It’s not something we’ll tolerate.”

Majority
Stressing the need for the NPP to have a majority in Parliament, he stated, “We require a parliamentary majority. You have witnessed the challenges we face due to our current numbers in Parliament.”

Kwamo rally
Also addrssing a rally at Kwamo, NPP flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia said a vote for the independent candidate is a vote for the opposition NDC since they are supporting him . “If you vote for the independent candidate, you are only giving power to the NDC who are supporting him.”
