Special Ops Police Unit Conducts Patrols and Community Outreach in Bole

The Special Operations Team of the Ghana Police Service has successfully executed a two-day patrol and community engagement operation across Bole and its adjoining communities from September 5 to 6, 2025.
The initiative, aimed at enforcing the ongoing curfew and ensuring public safety, was met with calm and cooperation from residents.
On the night of September 5, a total of eighty-nine (89) police personnel were deployed under the leadership of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bawa Jalil, Head of Operations – Special Operations Team, Bole.
The night patrols, which extended across Bole Township and its border communities, focused on increasing police visibility, deterring crime, and responding swiftly to potential threats.
Reports indicate that all areas visited remained peaceful and orderly throughout the operation. Police presence continues to enhance public confidence and support compliance with the curfew directives.
On September 6, the Special Operations Team shifted its focus to strategic community engagement, visiting various neighbourhoods and interacting with residents, market women, vendors, business owners, and local leaders.
The outreach aimed to gather public feedback on the ongoing curfew and its effects on daily life.
While community members widely acknowledged the improved security and peaceful environment under police watch, they raised concerns about the economic and social impact of the curfew. Many noted that evening trading and other livelihood activities have been adversely affected.
In a meeting with the Chief Imam of Bole and his elders, the religious leaders praised the professionalism and discipline of the police officers.
However, they appealed for a review of the curfew hours, citing disruptions to religious practices, particularly dawn and evening prayers.
In response, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its dedication to preserving peace, safeguarding lives and property, and strengthening its collaboration with the community.
The Service emphasised that feedback gathered during the engagement will be considered in future reviews of curfew enforcement policies in the Bole jurisdiction.
