Sampa, Tanoso paramount chiefs to swear oath of allegiance to Otumfuo today
Today, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, two new paramount chiefs in the Bono and Bono East regions will swear the oath of allegiance to the occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Nana Samgba Gyafla II of Sampa in Bono Region, who is a Justice of the Court of Appeal, and Nana Sarfo Yeboah Amponsem II of Tanoso in Bono East Region will pick the Mponponsuo royal sword of the Asante Kingdom and swear to be faithful to the King.
Already, the two paramount chiefs have sworn to their people in their respective towns , in line with Asante custom.
Today’s swearing in will cement their new positions , and pave way for them to become members of their respective regional houses of chiefs.
Allegiance
Sampa, the capital of Gyaman North District, shares border with Cote d’Ivoire. It has over the years been a member of the Asanteman Council and thus owes allegiance to the Golden Stool.
Tanoso , near Techiman is one of the Tano-Subin towns that also owe allegiance to the Golden Stool.
