PSG beat Arsenal 2-1 at Parc des Princes in Champions League semi-final second leg

Paris Saint-Germain have reached their second ever Champions League final after beating Arsenal 2-1 in their semi-final second leg at the Parcs des Princes on Wednesday.

The French champions were 1-0 victors during last week’s first leg and found themselves protecting a two-goal aggregate cushion by the half-time whistle. Despite Arsenal dominating the early stages and spurning several glorious opportunities, PSG entered the break ahead following Fabian Ruiz’s deflected strike from the edge of the penalty box.

PSG were gifted the perfect opportunity to put the tie beyond doubt midway through the second half, but Vitinha’s penalty kick was saved by David Raya. However, Achraf Hakimi swiftly did what his teammate couldn’t as he curled an excellent effort beyond the Arsenal goalkeeper into the far corner.

Arsenal reduced the deficit by one through Bukayo Saka just four minutes after PSG’s second of the night, but were unable to conjure up any further drama in the dying embers as the French champions booked their ticket to the Champions League final against Inter.
