Our deities and ancestors will deal with NDC thugs; Kukuom chiefs invoke curses
The Chiefs at Kukuom in the Ahafo Region have invoked curses on the alleged perpetrators and sponsors of the violence that took place at a registration centre last Saturday.
The incident allegedly undertaken by elements of the NDC, left one person seriously injured during the ongoing limited registration exercise in the town.
At a press conference, the chiefs expressed concern about the attack , and performed rituals for the gods to deal with the thugs and their sponsors.
Unacceptable
The Dwafohene, Nana Oteng Boateng described the violence as unacceptable, especially as it was perpetrated by outsiders. The disgraceful conduct, he said, is giving Kukuom a bad name, and therefore summoned the individuals before their ancestors and all river gods within the Kukuom enclave to deal with them mercilessly.
Peaceful
Describing residents of Kukuom as peaceful, Nana Boateng said for strangers who call themselves political vigilantes to cause such disturbances and tarnish the image of the town is disgusting.
Police
The Omanhene of Kukuom, Osahene Kwaku Aterkyi called on the Police to arrest all persons involved in the disturbances and take them through the due process of the law.
Background
The Police arrested the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi South, Alhaji Collins Dauda, for his alleged involvement in disturbances which occurred at Kukuom in the Asunafo South Constituency of the Ahafo Region during the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise, on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
A statement from the Ghana Police Service said one person sustained injury and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. It said the police are in pursuit of other suspects in connection with the incident.
