Otumfuo to visit Dagbon
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will undertake a historic visit to the Dagbon Kingdom in the Northern Region after the 25th anniversary of his coronation on May 12, this year.
The visit, according to Otumfuo will enable him to have a direct feeling of the peace and tranquillity prevailing in Dagbon. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made this known when a delegation from the Ya-Na Abukari II paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

His Majesty did not provide further details about the timelines for the visit. Otumfuo said though Ya-Na has previously discouraged him from the visit, he will nevertheless embark on the journey.
Ya-Na expected in Kumasi
On the 25th anniversary of his coronation, the Asantehene said he was expecting the Ya-Na to join him on the occasion slated for the Baba Yara Stadium on May 12. “For the 25th anniversary, I’m expecting my brother to come for us to celebrate together. After that, I will visit him there to experience the peace. He said I shouldn’t come but I will go,” he told the delegation.
Delegation
The delegation from the Gbewaa Palace was at the Manhyia Palace to express the Ya-Na’s gratitude and admiration for Otumfuo’s ability to amicably resolve the protracted and deadly conflict between the Andanis and Abudus.
The delegation was led by the Paramount Chief of the Zangbalin Traditional Area, Dr Jacob Yakubu Mahama.
Other members included the Chief of Pishigu Traditional Area, Alhassan Andani; the Ashanti Regional Dagomba Chief, Alhaji Fuseini Abu; and the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gbewa Palace, Nabapra Musah Yakubu.
Recognition
The leader of the delegation, Dr Jacob Yakubu Mahama, recognized that the friendship created between Otumfuo and Ya-Na after the resolution of the Dagbon conflict has been a rallying point for the reinvigorated spirit of peace and unity in Dagbon. “We are here once again to express Ya-Na Abukari II’s profound gratitude for Your Highness’ invaluable support and guidance throughout the delicate process of reconciliation and restoration in our beloved kingdom.”
