Otumfuo back from Trinidad and Tobago
The Asantehene , Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, returned home on Saturday night from a successful official visit to Trinidad and Tobago.
Excitement filled the Manhyia Palace with the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III leading the traditional welcoming party. She waved a white handkerchief as a group of young women sang traditional Asante songs and danced to welcome the King.
Otumfuo hugged the Asantehemaa before taking his seat inside the palace . His Majesty at a point stood up to take some few dancing moves to the song that was being sung by the group of young women.
At the airport
Earlier , the Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, led the welcoming party at the Kumasi Airport.
Also present were a number of chiefs and officials of the Manhyia Palace.
After descending the gangway of the chartered flight that flew him straight from the Piarco International Airport in Port of Spain to Kumasi, Otumfuo went round to shake hands with the chiefs and palace officials before his convoy moved to the Manhyia .
Activities
His Majesty was in Trinidad and Tobago for a week on the invitation of the Prime Minister of the country, Dr. Keith Rowley. Otumfuo was the Guest of Honour for the emancipation day celebrations of Trinidad Tobago.
