Ofori-Atta calls for expedited works on revenue bills in Parliament
The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta is appealing to Parliament to speedily work on passing some revenue bills before the house to aid efforts at securing a 3 billion dollar support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The bills include the Excise Tax Stamp and Excise Duty amendment bills, Income Tax amendment bill, Growth and Sustainability levy bill among others.
Providing a brief to Parliament on the DDEP, Ken Ofori-Atta says he is hopeful that the passage of the bills would enhance domestic revenue mobilisation.
“Mr. Speaker, all these efforts would be greatly enhanced if the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, Excise Duty & Excise Tax Stamp (Amendment) Bills as well as the Growth and Sustainability Levy Bill, which are outstanding in this august House could be prioritized and passed.
“Mr. Speaker, the passage of these Bills will enable Government to complete four (4) of five (5) agreed Prior Actions in the Staff Level Agreement since Tariff adjustment by the PURC, Publication of the Auditor-General’s Report on COVID-19 Spending, and Onboarding of GETFUND, DACF and Road Fund on the GIFMIS have all been completed,” the Finance Minister said.
