NPP set for parliamentary primaries in occupied constituencies; National chairman warns against divisiveness

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gets ready for Saturday’s parliamentary primaries in constituencies it occupies, the National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has urged all aspirants to rise above personal animosities and avoid the pitfalls of divisive rhetoric. “The success of our party lies not in bringing each other down but rather in building each other up and united in our common purpose to serve the people of our nation,” he said in a statement issued ahead of the polls.

Principles
Mr Ntim said the NPP is built on principles, and it is crucial that its internal processes, such as the upcoming primaries serve as evidence of their commitment to upholding established values of democracy. “The December 2024 elections are fast approaching and the outcome will significantly depend on the party and cohesion we exhibit during the primaries.

“Let us demonstrate to the nation that the NPP is a party that values respectful discourse, healthy competition and democratic processes,” he urged the contestants.

Fierce contests
Some of the constituencies are expected to witness fierce contests as incumbents fight to ward off challenge from new entrants .

Monitoring team
The leadership of the NPP has meanwhile constituted monitoring teams to supervise the parliamentary primaries.
This notice was contained in a statement signed by the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong. Members and supporters of the party are also advised to report any issues relating to the polls to the monitoring teams to ensure amicable resolution.
