NPP Is For Peace Of Ghana — NAPO

The NPP will continue to demonstrate its commitment to the peace and unity of Ghana as general elections approach, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has assured.

According to him, Dr Bawumia, the party’s presidential candidate embodies that principle wholeheartedly.

Dr Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) gave the assurance when he delivered a message on behalf of Dr Bawumia and the NPP at the 2024 Peace Campaign event in Accra on Sunday, November 3.

The event was organized under the aegis of the clergy and the office of the National Chief Imam at the forecourt of the State House.

Track record
Napo emphasized that, the NPP has always been resolute in its belief that the peace of the nation is paramount. “Our overarching approach to nation building has been to ensure a cohesive Ghana devoid of religious or ethnic inflammations,” he stated.

Peace pact
The vice presidential candidate reaffirmed the party’s commitment to signing the peace pact. He described the rule of law and the principles of democratic accountability as key ingredients for peace in every step of Ghana’s democratic journey.

“Despite losing by the narrowest of margins—by the skin of our teeth—in the 2008 elections, for example, we did not riot. This, among many other instances, constitutes the NPP’s track record in upholding peace and democratic values,” he said.

He added: “The NPP believes that it is the people who will ultimately decide who governs them. Therefore, our flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, myself, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, our spouses, and indeed every leg of our campaign have been on the ground day and night, engaging with the electorate.

“Ghana, surely, will once again rise to the occasion as the beacon of democracy and a shining example for Africa and beyond.”
