Northern Ghana fresh battleground for Bawumia, Kennedy
With 12 days to the November 4 presidential primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), campaigning is expected to heat up from this week.
The presidential aspirants will be touching base with delegates in key constituencies as they seek to court their support.
Already , campaigning has been intensive with the two front runners , Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong doing a lot of work in the five regions of the north.
Fresh battleground
It appears the north has become a fresh battleground for the two leading candidates . Mr Agyapong is well aware of strength of Dr Bawumia especially in the north, and it would take a miracle for him to outdo the Vice President in that part of the country.
Last week, Mr Agyapong took his campaign to the Northern Region moving from one constituency to the other to tell delegates why they should vote for him.
He was at Yendi where he called on the Ya-Na Abukari III and presented him with a pick up vehicle .
On Sunday, October 22, he started covering three constituencies in the North East Region.
These are Chereponi, Yunyoo and Bunkpurugu.
He will proceed to Yagaba, Nalerigu and Walewale on October 23, 2023.
Bawumia reschedules
Dr Bawumia who returned to Accra briefly rescheduled his campaign tour to the North East Region.
The Vice President who had earlier scheduled to be in the region between October 21-22 had to review his itinerary to allow Mr Agyapong undertake his campaign tour of the region on October 22-23.
The tentative dates for the Vice President’s visit are October 29-30, 2023.
His campaign office said a detailed programme of his tour would be published as soon as the planned dates are confirmed.
