NDC Fails To Steal 3 Parliamentary Seats From NPP
The NPP has won the disputed parliamentary elections in the Fanteakwa North, Suhum and Akwatia constituencies in the Eastern Region.
The NDC had initially forced Electoral Commission (EC) officials at the collations to declare for their candidates but the NPP protested and called former-collation, which eventually overturned the earlier decisions.
To ensure the safety of all players in the re-collation, the EC moved the exercise to the National Police Training School.
Suhum
After re-examination of the pink sheets, the EC declared Frank Asiedu Bekoe, the NPP candidate, as the winner. He received 16,855 votes, while Prince Kwadwo Addo Tabiri of the NDC garnered 15, 259 votes. Independent candidate, Kwadwo Asante, polled 14,860 votes with another independent candidate Emmanuel Dede Wiafe receiving 159 votes.
Akwatia
For Akwatia, the EC declared the NPP’s Ernest Kumi winner with 19,269 votes, while his main opponent, Henry Yiadom Boakye of the NDC, garnered 17,206 votes.
Fanteakwa North
For the Fanteakwa North election, NPP’s Kwame Appiah Kodua beat the NDC’s Haruna Apaw-Wiredu.
The NPP raised concerns over the authenticity of pink sheets from two polling stations, forcing the EC to suspend proceedings and conduct a re-collation.
