NDC assures to address Duffuor’s concerns
The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has admitted to some discrepancies with the party’s register to be used for Saturday’s primaries.
A member of the Functional Executive Committee of the party, Alex Segbefia says the party will take steps to address all issues before Saturday.
The Campaign Team of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, one of the flagbearer aspirants, has asked the party to postpone the May 13 election following what they call inaccurate voter register.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has thus filed an interlocutory injunction against the party’s upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries.
But Alex Segbefia says the matter will be resolved.
“We are aware that the delegates’ list has got some concerns. It is important to note that when we had the national congress, we carried it out with a voter register that had 60 percent of both the names and photographs. When we had the national congress we didn’t have access to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) database at the time, we didn’t apply for it”.
“We used our own system, so we got only 60 percent at the time of both photographs and names, so we used predominately the other 40 percent for the names and people used their identity cards to deal with it. We will resolve all concerns,” a member of the Functional Executive Committee of the party noted.
