Napo Joins Otumfuo To Historic Ga Mantse Durbar

Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, on Sunday,June 9, 2024, joined Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to the Ga State Durbar held in honour of Otumfuo at the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra.

It was a historic visit by the 16th Asantehene as it marked the second time that an Asantehene visited the Ga Mantse palace.

The first was by the 14th Asantehene Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II, who was hosted to a durbar by the then Ga Mantse, King Tackie Tawia II.

For Dr Opoku Prempeh, a.k.a. Napo, it was also a historic moment as his grandfather Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II, visited the Ga Mantse palace 78 years ago.

Otumfuo donates GHc500,000
Yesterday’s durbar was well attended with Ga culture in full display. The high point was the donation of GHc500,000 by the Asantehene to the Ga Traditional Council to support the education of their children.

Love
Otumfuo said he came to the Ga Mantse palace with love and in unity. He traced the relationship between the Asante Kingdom and the Ga State to the period of his uncle, Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II.

He added that he also had personal relationship with the late Ga Mantse , Nii Amugi II. “Whether Asante, Ga, Bono, North, we are one people seeking to build Ghana. Ghana cannot grow without our unity so Asante and Ga should unite to build Ghana,” he said.

Appreciation
The Ga Mantse thanked Otumfuo for the visit, adding “We have seen what Otumfuo has done for Ga.”

Proud of Otumfuo
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Kwartei Titus Glover said the people of Accra are proud of the Asantehene.
