My gov’t will set up Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund for easy access to funding by traders – Bawumia
The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says his administration would establish Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund and an SME bank to ensure easy access to funding for traders.
He noted that funding was a major challenge facing traders and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country, therefore, his government was committed to providing conducive environment and funding solution for traders and SMEs to thrive.
Vice President Bawumia announced this at the Kaneshie Market in Accra on Wednesday during a campaign tour of the Okaikwei South constituency of the Greater Accra Region.
Dr Bawumia also engaged traders and stakeholders including the Clergy, Imams, chiefs and opinion leaders to explain his vision for the nation if elected as President of the in the December 7 Election.
The NPP Flagbearer visited homes, street corners and market sheds during the ‘Meet-and-Greet’ sessions to shake hands with the ordinary people, amid cheers from the people.
Dr Bawumia reiterated his resolve to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians if he assumes power in 2025 through various innovative interventions.
He mentioned plans to roll out the Credit Scoring System to ensure access to affordable loans, duty free on mobile phones, new tax regime at the port and tax amnesty in 2025.
“The NPP government is proposing a new initiative to support businessmen and women. We want to support you. We are aware your biggest challenge is funding. Is that not so?… You need funding to boost your business. Without funding, you’re unable to promote your trade…so, we are proposing policies, including the Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund to support women and businesses,” Dr Bawumia stated.
“Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for Our Future” was the theme for the constituency-focused campaign tour.
