My able running mate and I ready to file nomination forms today – Bawumia
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will take another step in its quest to break the 8 when the flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh file the presidential nominations at the Electoral Commission (EC) in Accra today, September 9.
Filing of nominations is a constitutional requirement that must be fulfilled before a flagbearer will be clothed with the law to contest the presidential elections.
Bawumia’s message
On Sunday, September 8, Dr Bawumia took to social media to announce his readiness to fulfil the constitutional requirements today.
“God willing tomorrow, 9 September, 2024 the Possibilities bus moves to the Electoral Commission Headquarters at Ridge where my able running mate Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh and I will submit and file our 2024 Presidential Election Nomination Forms.
“I will subsequently visit the party Headquarters, Asylum Down at 9am. The Bold Solutions for Jobs and Businesses with Selfless Leadership is the way to move Ghana forward,” the NPP flagbearer posted on his Facebook page.
Party statement
Earlier, the NPP also issued a statement on the filing of the nominations. “After filing his presidential nomination, the presidential candBawumiaould be addressing party sympathizers and the general public at the party’s national headquarters at 9:00am. Members of the party and the general public are invited to be part of this historic moment of possibility in Ghana’s Next Chapter,” the statement said.
