5,675 delegates to decide on NPP constitutional reforms at national conference

A total of 5,675 delegates are expected to attend the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, where they will vote on key amendments to the party’s constitution.
The proposed changes, covering over 50 constitutional provisions, aim to strengthen internal structures and enhance operational efficiency.
At a media briefing on Thursday, Joseph Osei-Owusu (Joe Wise), Chairman of the Planning Committee, confirmed that the proposed amendments had already been circulated to all delegates.
“The purpose of this conference is to deliberate on and adopt these constitutional reforms,” he stated.
Proposals
The proposals, compiled in a 64-page summary report, were distributed by the party’s General Secretary to regional and constituency offices. However, the final amendments will be condensed into motions for voting.
Pivotal moment for NPP
The conference represents a critical step in the NPP’s post-2024 election reforms as the party regroups for the 2028 general elections. Party officials say the amendments incorporate feedback from members at all levels, with the goal of fostering greater transparency, democracy, and responsiveness within the party.
