McDan Warehouse Demolished: National Security Fingured in Operation

A McDan Group warehouse and showroom located near Action Chapel on Spintex Road was demolished on Monday in an operation reportedly led by National Security.

Workers at the site claimed that soldiers ordered them to leave before excavators brought the building down. Although the involvement of National Security has been suggested, no official explanation has been provided.

Background

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the land where the project was situated has been the subject of a dispute between McDan Company Limited and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

GACL asserts that McDan has not fulfilled financial obligations, including ground rent payments, over the past four years.

Despite claims that the land is under litigation, McDan has developed commercial properties and earned rental income without paying ground rent.

GACL claims that McDan owes over $3.99 million and GH¢13,000, while McDan disputes this debt.

Political undertones

The timing of the demolition has raised speculation about possible political motivations.

Critics argue that the government’s actions may be part of a broader effort to target businesses perceived to be affiliated with the previous administration.
