Mahama Finally Flies In Presidential Jet After Public Outrage

President John Dramani Mahama has for the first time since his return to the presidency on January 7, 2025, used the presidential jet.

This follows concerns raised by a number of Ghanaians ,especially the opposition NPP about the President’s continuous usage of the private jet of his brother, Ibrahim Mahama.

On Saturday, January 25, the President flew in the Dassault Falcon 900EX-Easy, to participate in a High-Level Retreat on African Union (AU) Institutional Reforms in Nairobi Kenya. He made a stop-over in Luanda, Angola before continuing the journey to Kenya.

Video footage shows the President and his delegation at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi in the night, where they were welcomed by Kenyan officials. The French-built presidential aircraft, purchased at the cost of $37m has been in use since 2011.

Meeting
The high-level AU meeting on institutional reforms, which Mahama is attending, is being hosted by Kenya’s President William Ruto, from January 27-28. It will focus on AU reforms, including sustainable financing and restructuring its operations.

President Mahama will share his leadership insights and highlight Ghana’s commitment to the AU agenda.
