Mahama and NDC fear me – Dr Bawumia
Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that he will beat the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC), John Mahama, in the 2024 elections if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elects him as the presidential candidate.
He told the delegates of the NPP that he remains the best bet to retain the party in office in the 2024 elections.
Speaking to NPP delegates in the Tema West constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Bawumia said the NPP must elect a candidate who can break the 8-year election cycle jinx.
“They know we will break the 8, and they know that John Mahama cannot take me on in the North, and they know that I will beat him in the North and this is why they don’t want me to be the flagbearer,” he said
According to the Vice President, he is the candidate former president Mahama and the NDC fear the most in the 2024 presidential polls.
Popularity
The popularity of Dr. Bawumia within NPP circles appears to be on the rise, especially after the frenzy which characterised the filing of his nomination forms on June 16. Right after filing his nomination, with a mammoth crowd accompanying him, Vice President Bawumia did not take things for granted.
He commenced his tour in the Greater Accra Region later in the day, with visits to Nima in Ayawaso East and La in the La Dadekotopon constituencies.
Then on June 17, he continued his tour with visits to Sege, Ada, Kpone Katamanso and Ashaiman constituencies, where he interacted with NPP delegates.
Massive support
One characteristic of the visits was the massive show of love party members in all these constituencies displayed to the Vice President.
Party supporters arrived hours before the scheduled arrival time of Dr. Bawumia, and they danced to music and used his name in songs, in support of his presidential bid. Also, the Vice President is touring the constituencies on a bus.
