ICAG Honours Napo for Steering Accountancy Governing Act

The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) has honoured Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, for his role as Minister of Education in guiding the revision and successful passage of their governing Act.

The management of the Institute, led by CEO Kwasi Agyemang, visited the former minister to express their appreciation.

The Act
The Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana Act, (Act 1058), repealed and replaced the previous Institute of Chartered Accountants Act, 1963 (Act 170). Act 1058 serves as the primary legislation governing the accountancy profession in Ghana. It establishes the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) as the sole professional accountancy body in the country, with the mandate to regulate the profession, set standards, and promote the highest levels of professional competence and practice.

Appreciation
Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed his gratitude for the recognition and commended the Institute for its commitment to excellence. He expressed hope that ICAG will continue to set world-class standards and nurture professionals who will contribute to Ghana’s prosperity.
