I Look Forward to Meeting German President — Otumfuo

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, expressed his eagerness to meet with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on November 4 to discuss issues of mutual interest.
This statement was made during a courtesy visit by the German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
Otumfuo mentioned his interest in securing technical support for local artisans at Suame Magazine during the upcoming meeting.
He praised the ingenuity of the artisans, noting that with the right support, they could achieve even greater feats.
He emphasized that such technical assistance is essential, especially as the artisans have been granted new space to establish themselves as an artisanal hub.
The Asantehene stressed the importance of international partnerships, stating that the country no longer needs grants but rather collaboration.
“We have reached a point where we don’t need handouts but cooperation. That is what we truly need for economic development. In the past, we were dependent on begging, but that is no longer necessary. Cooperation is what will drive development,” he remarked.
Ambassador Landshöft informed Otumfuo that the primary focus of President Steinmeier’s visit would be to strengthen cooperation in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), as well as in the academic sector at large.
“Our head of state will be visiting Ghana, and on November 4, he will spend time in Kumasi. It would be an honour for him to meet with Your Majesty,” he added.
