I am confident NAPO will support Bawumia to realise his presidential dream – Nene Sakite II

The Konor of Manya Krobo, Nene Sakite II, has expressed confidence in Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to achieve his presidential dream.

He is equally hopeful that the two would effectively administer the country to achieve progress, if the NPP wins the elections.

On that score, he advised the NPP to avoid complacency and rather work hard to get Ghanaians buy into the achievements of the government as well as the laudable policy proposals of the party going into the general elections.

Nene Sakite said this when Dr Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called Napo, who is the NPP presidential running mate, paid a courtesy call on him at Manya Krobo on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Mission
Napo was at the palace to seek the Konor’s blessings and wise counsel, and also to re-emphasise Dr Bawumia’s resolve to deepen partnership with traditional authority, as a catalyst for harmony and socio-economic growth.

Bawumia has good plans
Nene Sakite emphasised that the NPP flagbearer has good plans for the nation. He cited for example Dr Bawumia’s proposal to integrate traditional leadership into modern governance, saying it is a laudable proposal.

He therefore prayed that the NPP wins the elections so that Dr Bawumia and his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh implement the laudable plans. “If you ( NPP) work harder, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh will be the next Vice-President of Ghana,” he stated.

Bawumia keeps promises
Dr Opoku Prempeh assured the Konor that Dr Bawumia is a leader who keeps his promise. He said the chieftaincy institution will play its rightful role in the presidency of Dr Bawumia. “I know that, Dr Bawumia will not renege on his promises. In due course, the role of the chieftaincy institution will change, and traditional leaders will be asked to contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation in the era of Dr Bawumia as President of Ghana,” he stated.

Unity, stability
Dr Opoku Prempeh re-emphasised the need for unity and stability, which are major ingredients of national development. He said the NPP recognizes that the people play different but important roles to make the country better.

Commiseration
The running mate also commiserated with the family of the late Sub. Lt. Christian Kofi Tettey, popularly known as Black Slate, who was a founding member of the NPP. He reminded party faithful to emulate the long-standing commitment of the departed stalwart to the ideals of the NPP by working assiduously for victory in December.
