High expectations as President Akufo-Addo set to host 2024 Africa Prosperity Dialogues

There are high expectations ahead of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD 2024) which will take place at the Peduase Lodge, Aburi Hills in the Eastern Region from, January 25 -27,2024. To be hosted by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, APD 2024 will be on the theme, “Delivering Prosperity in Africa: Produce, Add Value, Trade.”

Some stakeholders including institutions with strong representation on the African continent, captains of industry, top government officials, and members of the diplomatic community who have signalled their readiness to attend, are optimistic about the benefits to be derived from the meeting.

The Africa Prosperity Network (APN) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat are organizing the Dialogues, which will also have in attendance some African Heads of State, business leaders, social change-makers and other Pan-African thought leaders.

A number of personalities have been invited to the APN 2024. They include Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone; Alassane Ouattara, President of Côte d’Ivoire; William Ruto, President of Kenya; Dr Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana; Azali Assoumani, President of Comoros; Kofi Appenteng, the President and CEO, Africa-America Institute; Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General, World Trade Organisation; Strive Masiyawa, Founder and Executive Chairman, Ecomet Global and Cassava Technologies; Aliko Dangote, Nigerian businessman and industrialist;

Press briefing
Meanwhile at a news briefing in Accra on Monday, January 15, ahead of the event, the Founder and Executive Chairman of APN, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko said the APD provides a good path to drive the AfCFTA agenda.

He stated: “If the AfCFTA is going to work, there must be a big push within the first 10 years of the agreement coming into force, that is between 2021 and 2031 because if we can’t get it right now, we will never get it right.”

Stressing the importance of the media in driving private sector development, he urged them to use their platforms to promote the agenda of the AfCFTA and the outcomes of the 2024 APD.
