GPCL Boss Vows to Combat Counterfeit Gazettes with New Security Measures

The Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL), Nana Kwasi Boatey, has launched a strong campaign against the growing menace of fake gazettes in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the Gazette 360 campaign in Accra, on Thursday, August 2, 2025, Nana Kwasi Boatey vowed to clamp down on fraudulent gazettes that have infiltrated the system.

He warned that anyone caught falsifying the Ghana Gazette would be treated as an enemy of the state.

“We will chase you, we will arrest you, we will prosecute you, and we’ll make sure you stay behind bars,” he declared.

According to him, fake gazettes have ruined the reputations of many Ghanaians, especially those seeking opportunities abroad, as fraudulent entries in name changes and marriages continue to undermine public trust.

He called on the media and security agencies to support efforts to safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s official legal publication.

Gazette 360 is a national public education campaign by GPCL designed to raise awareness about the importance of the Gazette, how to access and use it, and why it matters for legality and governance.

The initiative will extend outreach to schools, religious institutions, and communities, while also addressing the dangers of fake gazettes.

The campaign, supported by Marry Right Ghana and AngloGold Ashanti, urges citizens to trust the Gazette as a reliable safeguard against fraud and illegitimacy.
