Ghana to sign UN convention on cybercrime this month – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana will ratify and sign the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime this October.

He said this when he launched this year’s National Cyber Security Awareness Month in Accra on Wednesday October 1.

Speaking on the country’s efforts to strengthen cybersecurity, the President said the move marks a historic step in Ghana’s fight against cybercrime.

President Mahama explained that the treaty will provide Ghana with the legal and technical tools needed to investigate cyberattacks, prosecute cybercriminals, and protect critical information infrastructure.

“This October Ghana will take another historic step. We will ratify and sign the UN convention on Cyber Crime.

“This treaty equips us with tools to investigate attacks, prosecute cyber criminals and protect critical information infrastructure.”
