Ghana Gas Enrolls 20,000 Vulnerable Citizens in NHIS Scheme

The Ghana National Gas Company has launched a free registration exercise for 20,000 underprivileged residents from eight districts in the Western Region, enabling them to enrol in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Speaking on Channel One TV at a registration centre in Nsein near Axim, Henry Alima, Assistant Manager for Corporate Social Responsibility at Ghana Gas, said the initiative aims to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable communities, particularly during emergencies.
“Ghana Gas is embarking on the registration of people onto the NHIS for selected communities within our operational areas. We are covering about eight districts, and the exercise seeks to register approximately 20,000 beneficiaries,” he said.
Alima added that the exercise, which on Thursday, March 12, will run until April 10, 2026. “As a responsible corporate institution, we seek to enhance healthcare for people within our operational areas, hence this free registration exercise,” he noted.
