Ghana Cedi Falls to GH¢11.60 per US Dollar on Interbank Market

The Ghana cedi has weakened further against the US dollar, trading at GHC11.60 to US$1 on the interbank market, according to the Bank of Ghana’s latest reference rates.
The figure, published on Monday (1 September 2025), reflects the weighted median interbank mid-rate at which commercial banks transact foreign exchange among themselves. It marks a notable depreciation from recent weeks, as pressure continues to mount on the local currency.
The interbank rate, typically more favourable than consumer-facing exchange rates, often serves as the benchmark for commercial banks and forex bureaus in setting their own rates.
